Do you know those places where you love to go, where you already know the guys, they already greet you, where you really feel like home? Revoltosa is definitely one of these.
Me and A. had just arrived Madrid when we found it. It seemed friendly, with an interesting design, like an industrial vintage, very well located, in this pleasant square just one block from home, with an amazing terrace and with a traditional-enough menu so you could feel like a local. It was love at the first sight. There’s no weekend without a glass of wine and a tapa in Revoltosa. It is our own ritual. Revoltosa is one of these places you wish to have always by your side!
It is a real tribute to Madrid, to the old tabernas and to the long Spanish afternoons. The ensaladilla rusa, the patatas bravas, the croquetas, the calamares, and the cañas are just a few of the highlights. Even the burgers taste like Madrid. Tasty dishes with a creative twist and always in antique recipients. Everything in very reasonable portions and prices. Really unmissable. The taberna of the XXI century.
Retro atmosphere, candles, wood on a white background, high ceilings, large windows, columns, and warm lighting, would be enough to make us curious about it. However they wanted to surprise even more with the menu: food cooked at low temperature, preserving the original flavours and smells of the ingredients, and presented in XS size. An unforgettable concept, a detailed service and a very original presentation that ended up being a delicious dinner. After all, it was not as “mini” as we thought it would be, and the quality-price ratio very honest indeed.
Definitely, Ochenta Grados is an amazing restaurant, with creative tapas at reasonable prices and right in the centre of the trendy neighbourhood of Malasaña in Madrid. A very special place that won’t disappoint. One hundred percent recommended.
